1914 (Mar 25) "Harrogate Herald" newspaper folded up within a wrapper, addressed to "Mrs Henry Deakin, Swan Hydro, Harrogate. Finder of this please post" and endorsed "Thrown from Blackburn aeroplane", a 1d stamp cancelled at Harrogate tying the
wrapper to the newspaper, the paper with manuscript inscription "While staying at Harrogate Mrs Leigh (Kitty’s aunt) flew over the Hydro & other parts threw out this paper which was picked up & posted to me, Grace Deakin". In 1913 Harold Blackburn
flew the Blackburn type D monoplane extensively throughout Yorkshire and in October beat a Lancashire built biplane in the War of the Roses air race. He flew at the Sheffield Aviation Week from March 28 - April 4, 1914, evidently flying at Harrogate
just prior to this, and during the July 1914 Yorkshire Agricultural Show at Bradford flew a half hourly service between Leeds and Bradford with some newspapers carried. Some soiling, nevertheless a remarkable and unique item.
