Grey-Wilson, Governor of St. Helena, on notepaper of The Castle but written from his residence "Plantation", to his mother in England, sent by diplomatic bag with a 1d lilac cancelled in London (Nov 15), the envelope signed "W. Grey-Wilson" in the corner. The letter includes news of the arrival of ships, the arrival and departure of various troops, Sir Donald Currie arrived and had a meeting to discuss the new mail service. Minor staining, unusual; Grey-Wilson saved 5d postage by sending this in the diplomatic bag. Est. £180-200 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 1784 1888 (Aug 26) Letter from W. Grey-Wilson, Governor of St. Helena, on notepaper of The Castle, to his mother in England, sent by diplomatic bag with a 1d lilac cancelled in London (Sep. 12). Minor staining and the 1d stamp torn through upon opening, unusual; Grey-Wilson saved 5d postage by sending this in the diplomatic bag. HELENA", the enclosed letter from Lady Grey-Wilson in Edinburgh, apparently sent within a packet, probably by diplomatic bag, to her husband with the Castle cachet applied upon arrival.
