1567 Tanganyika. 1927 Piece cut from the Goa Post Office specimen stamp ledger, bearing 1927-31 5c - £1 set of sixteen, the original fifteen value overprinted "Specimen", the 30c blue issued in 1931 perfined "Specimen", the 5c - 1/- additionally handstamped "Especimen" in violet applied in Lisbon prior to despatch to Goa. The stamps affixed by their own gum (or glue), 30c purple and 1/- with corner faults, 5/- with tiny surface fault and £1 a little soiled, nevertheless a unique archival piece. (16).

1568 Postage Dues - Tanganyika. 1933-35 Kenya and Uganda postage dues used in Tanganyika, covers (3, all to Cuttress), pieces (31, bearing 42 stamps), and stamps (37), various cancels from eighteen different offices. An interesting lot from this 22 month period prior to the issue of K.U.T dues, including 30c brown (11), 40c blue (19), etc. (71).

1569 1940-41 Picture postcards to Norway (2) and a cover to Denmark all returned to sender, two posted in late March shortly before the German invasion of Denmark and Norway with violet "POSTAL SERVICE SUSPENDED / RETURN TO SENDER" applied in London and a "NAIROBI / R.L.O" c.d.s applied upon receipt back in Kenya (May 31 / June 24); and 1941 (June 9) card to Norway sent more than a year after the German occupation handstamped "NO OUTLET" and "UNDELIVERED FOR REASONS STATED" applied at Nairobi. An unusual trio, the No Outlet handstamp not recorded by Proud. (3).

1570 Air Mails. 1939-45 Covers flown by Pan Am, a 1939 (May 20) FAM 18 first flight cover from New York to Entebbe flown by Pan Am to Marseille then by Imperial Airways; and 1942-45 covers from KUT to USA flown on route FAM 22 (Leopoldville to Lagos, transatlantic to Brazil, north to Miami via Trinidad and Puerto Rico), two 1942 5sh/75 per ½oz rate covers franked 11sh/50 double rate (with two 5/- stamps) or 6sh/05 (registered), eight 1943 covers sent after the reduction to 4sh/70 per ½oz, three incorrectly franked at the former rate of 5sh/75 (2), 6sh/05 (registered), the others franked 5sh (3, registered) or 4sh/70 (2). A good lot, well written up, two single 5sh frankings, seven censored. (11).

1575 1940-45 Honour Envelopes locally printed in East Africa, comprising Daynes types EA 1a (2), 1b (2, one unused), 2, 3a 3b, 4, 5 (2), another similar to type EA 2 but with the unrecorded imprint "D.P & S.S - 5390 - 1/43 - 10,000", seven of these stamped for air mail, also British (3) or South African Honour Envelopes and two air letters, all from Kenya or Tanganyika. A scarce group, most of the locally produced East Africa Honour Envelopes with a printing of 15,000 or less, very small for these envelopes. (17).
