815 Postcards. 1874-79 Postcards sent internationally including Switzerland 5c cards uprated 5c sent to Germany in 1874 (2); 1875 (Sep 9) Italy 10c card franked 20c to G.B via France (faults but rare); the others all sent in the G.P.U period between member countries comprising cards from Austria (3, 2kr card to Germany, two 2kr cards uprated 3kr to France or Belgium), Switzerland (5c card franked 5c), Italy (2, 10c cards franked 10c), G.B 1¼d cards (15), Greece, Netherlands, Spain (5c card franked 10c), France formula cards franked 15c (5, one used 5 Jan. 1876) or 20c, Luxembourg (2, 6c or 12½c cards) or Belgium. A fine group with some scarce early cards. (36).

816 Postcards. 1889-1908 Postcards, various mainly international uses, including Italy 1895 25th Anniversary of Liberation of Rome 10c cards with the stamp on reverse (12), 1896 Bulgaria 10st cards with a picture printed on the address side therefore charged 3d in London (2), Swiss card with poster stamp affixed contrary to regulations so charged 3d, U.S.A leather postcards charged as letters (3), 1906 Italy postcard to Malta with stamp on the picture side handstamped "Not transmissable" and boxed violet bilingual "Contrary to Regulations", Argentina glitter postcard sent within an outer envelope with circular window for the stamp, etc. (35).

817 Postcards. 1890 (June 17) Victoria 3d Postcard for the United Kingdom via Italy, correctly used from Melbourne to Bristol, minor edge fault to reverse, the front fine, a scarce card correctly used. Also Victoria 1½d U.P.U overprints on 1d + 1d reply card used and 2d postcards mint and used, 1900 Queensland 1½d card to G.B, and Canada 1880 2c postcard for use to U.K but used to Germany (use to other destinations permitted from March 1879). (6).

819 Postage Due Mail - "T" Handstamps. 1875-1898 "T" Handstamps used on unpaid or underpaid mail, entire letters, covers, cards and a front mainly from the 1875-79 G.P.U period (28), also seven later items, five 1875 items including a remarkable front posted in Cuba with a bisected stamp on June 26th (prior to G.P.U) and a "T" handstamp applied in New York on July 3rd (3rd day of G.P.U and "T" handstamp use), 1876 items (13), 1877 (6), etc., these early G.P.U items including "T" handstamps of Denmark, Romania, Russia, Austria, U.S.A (11), France (5), Guadeloupe, G.B (2), Spain, Germany, Italy (2) and Holland, three to G.B with "6d" or "7½d" (2) charge marks, "T" handstamps introduced by the G.P.U in 1875, early uses scarce. (35).

820 Paid Handstamps. 1875-1900 Entire letters and covers from London to abroad all with red Paid datestamps, five letters sent in the final six months (Jan - June 1875) of validity of Paid handstamps before they were banned on international mail by the G.P.U; 1875 (Aug. 12) letter to Amsterdam with red Paid c.d.s and "2½d" incorrectly accepted as valid by both the British and Dutch Post Offices; 1877 (June 27) cover to Paris with Official Paid c.d.s, "Paid" crossed through and handstamped "T" with a "6" charge; and 1900 cover to St. Lucia with a ½d stamp applied over the Paid c.d.s, violet boxed "Prepayment of Foreign / Correspondence can only / be effected by means of / Postage Stamps", minor toning and tear at right but very scarce. (8).

821 Meter Marks. 1914-30 Covers with meter marks of New Zealand (9, 1914-25), U.S.A (7), G.B (11) or Germany, all addressed abroad, the N.Z covers including 1914 cover to Switzerland with five circular Wellington ½d Postage Paid meters but 2½d in stamps then applied, covers to France or Sweden with meters disallowed and postage due stamps applied, and two 1921 covers to G.B with Wellington Paid datestamps alongside the meters. Also 1921 U.S.A notice illustrating types of meters now valid on international mail, 1924 G.B cover with meter proof impression, and a wrapper to Germany with a South Africa ½d stamp applied over red circular "CAPE TOWN / ¼d / PAID". (30).
