(33). Est. £200-250 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 813 1873-77 Covers, matched pairs on pages showing pre and post G.P.U rates, comprising Italy to France, Switzerland to France, France to Greece, G.B to France (two matched pairs, the two 3d rate covers posted 30th Dec. 1875, the penultimate day of the 3d rate, one 2½d rate cover posted 6 Jan. 1876), or G.B to Tunisia, also 1892-95 Transvaal covers to Europe franked 5d pre U.P.U rate, 2½d or 4d post U.P.U rates, and 1901 cover from G.B to Rhodesia sent shortly after Rhodesia joined the U.P.U franked 2½d. Est. £200-250 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 815 Postcards. 1874-79 Postcards sent internationally including Switzerland 5c cards uprated 5c sent to Germany in 1874 (2); 1875 (Sep 9) Italy 10c card franked 20c to G.B via France (faults but rare); the others all sent in the G.P.U period between member countries comprising cards from Austria (3, 2kr card to Germany, two 2kr cards uprated 3kr to France or Belgium), Switzerland (5c card franked 5c), Italy (2, 10c cards franked 10c), G.B 1¼d cards (15), Greece, Netherlands, Spain (5c card franked 10c), France formula cards franked 15c (5, one used 5 Jan. 1876) or 20c, Luxembourg (2, 6c or 12½c cards) or Belgium. Est. £120-150 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 817 Postcards. 1890 (June 17) Victoria 3d Postcard for the United Kingdom via Italy, correctly used from Melbourne to Bristol, minor edge fault to reverse, the front fine, a scarce card correctly used. Also Victoria 1½d U.P.U overprints on 1d + 1d reply card used and 2d postcards mint and used, 1900 Queensland 1½d card to G.B, and Canada 1880 2c postcard for use to U.K but used to Germany (use to other destinations permitted from March 1879). (6). Est. £100-120 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 818 Reply Cards. 1881-1940 Reply Cards correctly used back from abroad, comprising 1880-82 Swiss cards from Holland (3) or Germany (2, one franked 10pf) and a 1906 Swiss card from Canada, 1887-88 German cards from Sweden or Switzerland, 1909 Netherlands Indies 5c on 7½c card from Holland to Batavia, 1893 Transvaal 1d + 1d card to Italy and apparently returned, 1924-28 G.B cards from Russia (3, one an ordinary card), 1940 German card from Sweden franked 10 ore (with greetings from a London address), etc., also two 1970 cards. Est. £200-250 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 819 Postage Due Mail - "T" Handstamps. 1875-1898 "T" Handstamps used on unpaid or underpaid mail, entire letters, covers, cards and a front mainly from the 1875-79 G.P.U period (28), also seven later items, five 1875 items including a remarkable front posted in Cuba with a bisected stamp on June 26th (prior to G.P.U) and a "T" handstamp applied in New York on July 3rd (3rd day of G.P.U and "T" handstamp use), 1876 items (13), 1877 (6), etc., these early G.P.U items including "T" handstamps of Denmark, Romania, Russia, Austria, U.S.A (11), France (5), Guadeloupe, G.B (2), Spain, Germany, Italy (2) and Holland, three to G.B with "6d" or "7½d" (2) charge marks, "T" handstamps introduced by the G.P.U in 1875, early uses scarce. (35). Est. £400-500 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 820 Paid Handstamps. 1875-1900 Entire letters and covers from London to abroad all with red Paid datestamps, five letters sent in the final six months (Jan - June 1875) of validity of Paid handstamps before they were banned on international mail by the G.P.U; 1875 (Aug. 12) letter to Amsterdam with red Paid c.d.s and "2½d" incorrectly accepted as valid by both the British and Dutch Post Offices; 1877 (June 27) cover to Paris with Official Paid c.d.s, "Paid" crossed through and handstamped "T" with a "6" charge; and 1900 cover to St. Lucia with a ½d stamp applied over the Paid c.d.s, violet boxed "Prepayment of Foreign / Correspondence can only / be effected by means of / Postage Stamps", minor toning and tear at right but very scarce. (8). Est. £180-220 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 821 Meter Marks. 1914-30 Covers with meter marks of New Zealand (9, 1914-25), U.S.A (7), G.B (11) or Germany, all addressed abroad, the N.Z covers including 1914 cover to Switzerland with five circular Wellington ½d Postage Paid meters but 2½d in stamps then applied, covers to France or Sweden with meters disallowed and postage due stamps applied, and two 1921 covers to G.B with Wellington Paid datestamps alongside the meters. Also 1921 U.S.A notice illustrating types of meters now valid on international mail, 1924 G.B cover with meter proof impression, and a wrapper to Germany with a South Africa ½d stamp applied over red circular "CAPE TOWN / ¼d / PAID". (30). Est. £120-150 Closing..May-07, 02:00 AM EST. 824 Registration. 1893-1916 Covers and cards including Montenegro 1893-96 postcard and lettercard with Cetingne registration handstamp or label, 1897 Telegraphic Message envelope with Victoria Postmaster General Frank Stamp handstamped "R", 1905 cover from G.B to U.S.A returned unknown with New York Exchange registration label, 1907 Venezuela covers with registration labels (2), 1906 Sudan cover with thirteen stamps totalling 4pi7m, etc. (9).
