Daniel F. Kelleher Auctions, LLC Sale - 839

The Terrence A. Corrigan Classic United States Collection - June 9-10, 2026

Built over decades by a collector of means and taste, this is one of the finest US holdings we have ever had the pleasure to auction. Ranging from the 1847 First Issues through the 1902-08 Second Bureau Issues, plus contemporary Back-of-the-Book items, this parallel mint and used collection offers eye-catchingly fresh items throughout, including Proofs, Trial Colors, Essays and Specimens, extensive (and certed) shades (see particularly #1 and the 1861-67 issues), scarce to rare reprints and Officials, and much more besides. Among the innumerable highlights are 38 #1’s (including minor numbers), an alluring used #5, 4¢ Columbian errors of color (one mint, one used!), rarely encountered $3 and $6 Newspaper “Hard Paper” Special Printings, State Department Officials complete, and so much more. Set aside plenty of time to view—and to plan your bidding.

Terrence A. Corrigan

Terrence A. Corrigan of Pinehurst, NC, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. Terry was born on May 13, 1954, in Boston, MA, the grandson of Irish immigrants, and the first of five children of Andrew and Ruth Corrigan, a firefighter and a home economics teacher in Newton, MA. He attended Our Lady Help of Christians through eighth grade, graduated from Boston College High School in 1972, Columbia College in 1976, and Columbia Law School in 1981.

In 1990 Terry married Leslie Gallmeyer, who predeceased him in October 2022.

Terry was exceptionally generous to both friends and strangers. His friends were often the recipients of unexpected and unrequited birthday and holiday gifts. It was common for him to pay the tabs of strangers in restaurants and host young golfers and their families at his home in Pinehurst. His charitable nature was totally selfless. He was also very industrious his whole life.

Philatelically, his collecting interests included Classic United States with a true desire of acquiring each color shade of each stamp. He especially enjoyed the 3¢ & 24¢ 1861 Issue and the 3¢ 1869 Issue.

He always was a knowledgeable and savvy buyer, limiting his selections and buying only items with incredible visual appeal.

It is a true pleasure having been chosen to bring this collection to market. Please enjoy his holdings as much as we did in working with them.

As stated earlier, Terry's generous nature is continuing as all of the consignor proceeds are being donated to Colombia University and several other institutions. Bid accordingly, knowing that you are not only enhancing your collection but also supporting Terry's favorite charities by providing funding to worthy organizations.
