Singles from the Carlton B. Crenshaw Collection - March 29, 2026
Closes Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 9:00 p.m.
Our second offering from the exceptional Carlton B. Crenshaw collection. The consummate collector, Crenshaw waited for quality—readily apparent here among the classics ranging from #64b
to #701, mint and used, all accompanied by certificates, most graded 90 or higher. An excellent opportunity to raise your collection to a whole new level.
Carlton Crenshaw is a man whose accomplishments would overshadow most. He is one of
those “larger-than-life” folks whose dedication to others never took a backseat. Never losing his kind and gentle side, he strove to help others utilizing his success. Earning a graduate degree from NYU in one year, first in his class, was one of the
lofty goals he set and achieved. He later assisted with the NYU Stern MBA program, again giving back more than he took. He was a Bronze Star recipient for his service as a Marine in Vietnam, and an accomplished businessman, starting at the Sperry
Corporation and becoming a corporate officer in just three years’ time. During his last 20 years in business, he was CFO for three companies, two of which he helped take public. One of the life lessons he shared with us: “The most important lesson
that I have learned in business is to never give up and keep moving forward. Every day is not perfect. If you can learn one new thing every day, that will really help you. You face many challenges that you have to overcome. Perseverance is a great
concept and word.”
Carlton started collecting stamps at the age of 8. He would acquire them any way he could and shared that he would “dumpster-dive”, searching through trash cans and dumpsters to get stamps until he had the money to start
buying them. He has even gotten one of his granddaughters interested in collecting. He formed several collections and, as they got close to where he wanted them to be, would sell them, allowing others to enjoy them as he did.
He is the
founder of the Marine Corps League in Charlottesville, VA and was one of the founders of the Marine Corps museum in Woodbridge, VA.
It is a great pleasure to be entrusted to bring his last collection of Quality United States Singles, both
used and mint, to market. He was ever so proud of his coil issues, which are especially nice. Please enjoy this collection, as Carlton would want you to.
