The Bill Byerley Collection of Nicaragua is almost certainly the largest holding of this fascinating country ever to be offered at public auction. Ranging from the first issue all the way through the 1930s, this first catalogue includes a great number of exhibit-worthy items that have been off the market for decades. Proofs, mint stamps and multiples, varieties, and postal history are all highlighted, making for an exceptionally well-rounded offering. Particular highlights include:
  • 1862 5c First Issue strip of five on large piece (Lot 105)
  • 1921 Centenary of Independence Issue single-frame exhibit collection (Lot 254)
  • 1932 1c Yellow brown Airmail, double overprint, one inverted, with “1232” error in strip of five (Lot 285)
