Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
13 O 5A image#5A, 1c Blue, Ty. Ib, position 5R1E, a marvelously handsome appearing example of this exceptionally scarce type, margins are mostly large to huge showing a sizable portion of the sheet margin at top, barely touching at top left, lovely color in a fresh attractive blue typical of plate 1 in its early state, with a sharp well-defined impression on immaculate paper showing clearly the double transfer below the bottom label which makes this position very easy to identify (this is the first example of this position that we have offered) very light and unobtrusive central strike of a circular grid, small closed edge tear at bottom right that is not apparent from the front, in all other respects extremely fine and a most desirable example of a rare stamp that is missing from most collections; 1998 PF certificate; ex-"Ganymede". (Image) $7,500.00

SOLD for $3,750.00

14 O 6 image#6, 1c Blue, Ty. Ia, an extraordinarily fresh used example of this important classic rarity, being one of only a few certified sound examples recorded of Scott #6, possessing margins which range from just cutting at a couple of points to large (particularly at left and at top), leaving all of the essential and all-important Ty. Ia design characteristics virtually intact, intense dark shade and an incredibly detailed impression on bright fresh paper contribute to this stamp's overall eye appeal, unobtrusively cancelled by a crisp portion of a black postmark at bottom left, completely free of the myriad of flaws which affect most known copies, nearly very fine; the extreme rarity of Ty. Ia stamps is due to the fact that only 18 of 20 positions on the bottom row of plate 4 sheets produced this type, which shows a full design at bottom; 1984 PF certificate. (Image) $12,000.00

SOLD for $5,000.00
Closing..Dec-09, 10:14 AM

(Image) $13,000.00

18 O 7 image#7, 1c Blue, Ty. II, a desirable used example from the very elusive plate 3, possessing incredibly deep rich color which is characteristic of stamps from plate 3, and one of the positive characteristics that Neinken lists for identifying the stamps from this scarce plate that was only used for short time, plus its impression is deeply etched on immaculate paper, large to huge margins all around, extremely fine; 1999 PF certificate; ex-"Ganymede".
