image Lifetime Collection / Accumulation of the Great Britain 1870 ½d Rose Queen Victoria "Bantam" Issue, we counted over 3,600 stamps in all, with the majority being mounted in a springback album by plate and position, as an attempt to reconstruct each plate. The rest are either in 102 cards, in a small album or in a small stockbook, probably as the owner had not yet added them to the main collection. We did not see any Plate 9 stamps but there appears to be a good representation of all other plates. Aside from the plate numbers and positions, this offers lots of postmark interest, with many fully dated, numbers, etc. We also note some unused stamps, pairs, strips of three and four, as well as a few blocks of four, perfins and some stamps with margin inscriptions. A wonderful opportunity, and unique occasion to obtain so many different plates and positions, an ideal collection to expand on. Well worth our low estimate of only 83 cents a stamp.
