1942   SLOGAN CANCELLED COVERS AND USED POSTAL STATIONARY POSTCARDS - Comprised of three covers with the special June 14, 1929 commemorative slogan cancel for the 25th anniversary of the first Trans-Atlantic Air-Mail in 1919, this cancel was only used for one day, one cover has two singles of the 1¢ map (#145), one the 2¢ ship (#146) and the third with the scarcer 15¢ Alcock and Brown stamp (#156), an attractive and VF lot, as well a very nice lot of four different used Newfoundland 1¢ Postcards including Unitrade #UX3, 7, 9 and 13, seldom seen anymore,

1944   imageUNUSUAL STAMPLESS COVER TO SCOTLAND - Blue folded cover from St. John's to London June 27, 1859, rated "1/" with neat dispatch, rimless datestamp on back; on arrival July 10 the rate was crossed out with a one penny red brown [HA] tied by numeral grid for forwarding fee to a new address in Brighton, legible JY 14 arrival backstamp in blue. 1959   imageMARTYNSIDE FLIGHT COVER - Crosbie Hotel, St. John's advertising cover bearing a $1 on 15c scarlet (#C2) tied by St. John's July 12, 1919 cancel, the second attempted flight by Raynham and Biddlecombe, shortly after takeoff on July 17 the airplane crashed and was wrecked; Raynham then personally carried the mail with him upon his return to England by ship; it later arrived in London and was backstamped on Jan.7, 1920, light central fold and some toning. A rare attempted flight cover, one of just 27 recorded, F-VF (Image1)
