Letter hopes that the addressee will '...try to write to me via America...' as they '...think that is the only possible way the letters might pass.' A sad reflection of reality during WWII.

Can see 1892-93 range to 2s, plus 5s & £1 with fiscal cancels; 1892-94 all values to 8d (2); 1896-97 extensive array covering all values (both Die I and Die II); 1896 Cape overprinted values to 6d; 1897 all values to 8d; 1898-1908 all values to 10s (10), plus £2 (5); 1905 Victoria Falls range to 5s; 1909-12 range to 10s; 1909-11 surcharges range to 2s on 5s; 1910-13 'Double Heads' extensive range to 1s (2); 1913-24 'Admiral' extensive range to 2s (2). Mostly good to fine condition, the stamps with fiscal cancels ignored in estimate. (approx 400 stamps)
