Paper £1 well-centred block of 4 tied by Sydney cds, 'NEW YORK NY/JUL/17/1946/ WALL STREET STA' arrival backstamp in purple, faint US Customs '.../FREE OF DUTY/...' cachet on the face, central vertical fold & light toning but the Pound stamps are

inspector's (?) handstamp, roughly opened at back through the '333' mark but clear of the label. Full of character. The rate was 2/6d per ½oz x35 for an article weighing between 17 & 17½oz. Clearly, the contents were too bulky for the envelope. (Image1) (Image2)
