Bellerophon, addressed to Lady Flint by her daughter and including a humorous satirical pen and ink sketch of a flower, a “Common Malta Gabbleweed”. Charles Frederick de Brocktorff (1775-1850), an artist of German-Danish origin had fought in the Napoleonic wars as an Infantry Officer with the forces of the Electorate of Hanover before settling in Malta in around 1810 where his business prospered, his paintings created painted mainly for visitors and servicemen.
