1848   Belgium, Unframed Wmk. Specialized Collection, 1851-54. Two gorgeous leatherbound volumes of Scott Nos. 6-8, used stamps and covers meticulously mounted on quadrille pages, arranged by denomination, carefully identified by shade, paper type (parchment, ordinary and ribbed) and incl. three of 40c and at least nine of others on ribbed, 10c and 20c with pages showing characteristics of the different plates, some multiples incl. 21 pairs of 40c plus pair on cover, also some strips of three incl. one of 40c, also vertical strip of four of 40c, wonderful range of covers incl. 10c and 40c to Germany, top sheet margin copy of 10c, blocks of four of 10c and 20c on covers plus block of 10c off cover, several pages of sheet margin copies of 10c and 20c, few varieties such as pre-printing paperfolds, plate varieties identified by Balasse type and also incl. some unlisted for 10c, second volume contains cancellation study with different bars and numerals incl. "sets" of all three denominations with same numerals, continues with partly complete compilations of 10c and 20c trying to show the 166 known numerical 17-bar cancels, few colored cancels, covers continue in this volume with two 40c on domestic cover, 20c and 40c to New Brunswick, margins, to in, few with Jumbo margins, faults to be expected

OVERALL FINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A FANTASTIC SPECIALIZED COLLECTION OF THE 1851-54 BELGIUM KING LEOPOLD I ISSUE WITH THE FRAMELESS WATERMARK.

There are several items we would have made into individual auction lots, but this is such a wonderful study that we felt it best to offer it intact.
