2704 imageNorth to the Orient, Baker Lake to Aklavik, August 5, 1931, envelope franked 4¢ Canadian postage (damaged before being affixed) tied by August 6, 1931 Aklavik postmark, ms "Per Courtesy Col. Lindbergh", from W. Archibald Hunter, Huson's Bay Co. employee, who had been there for eight years to his sister in Scotland, the letter datelined Baker Lake, August 3, 1931, offers the writers conclusion on the importance of the flight and the letter, "Colonel Lindberg arrived here today by plane with his wife…to Japan via the Arctic", also includes two commemorative flights, edge faults and gum stains around stamps Fine and rare.

The Baker Lake trading post was the most isolated stop on the trip. Only one ship per year stopped there. Anne Lindbergh reported carrying 11 letters from employees and Clergy to Aklavik, where they were mailed at the Canadian Post Office.

2709 image1933, North Atlantic Survey, Godthaab, 1st stop, picture post card inscribed "July 25, 1933" in Lindy's own hand, mailed in Reykjavik and with Danish postage applied for transmittal from Copenhagen, where it was postmarked upon receipt August 23, 1933, Extremely Fine and rare, One of Three cards carried from Godthaab Colony.

In the summer of 1933 Charles and Anne Lindbergh used their Lockheed Sirius with floats and a new larger engine to survey a new route through Greenland and Iceland to Europe. Their first Greenland stop was at Godthaab, the capital. There they met Cdr. Dam of the Jelling, which would be in position if needed.

2710 image1933, North Atlantic Survey, Holstenborg, 2nd stop, card from Holstenboorg to Reykjavik, forwarded to Denmark, postmarked Aug 23, 1933 Copenhagen, sent from the Rasnussen's (with whom the Lindbergh's stayed) - the Governor and his wife, typewritten "Sent with Col. Lindbergh's airplane from Holstenborg, Greenland, 7/30/33. Dear Viola and Erik.- Herewith a fresh greeting by airplane.- The Lindbergh;s have stayed with us since their arrival….", Very Fine, One of 39 picture postcards.

The 2nd Greenland stop was farther north in Holstenborg, where they stayed with Governor Arnold Rasmussen and his wife, The settlement was swollen with members of Dr. Koch's expedition making aerial surveys of the northeastern coast. Before heading north to visit his advanced camp, they offered to carry a large envelope of cards and covers to Reykjavik for forwarding to Denmark. The outer envelope was postmarked Holstenborg, its contents were postmarked at Copenhagen.
