Indian red Small Queen, perf 12½ , used on registered cover along with 2c green Large Queen, paying the registered domestic letter rate from Truro, N.S. MA.28.1870 to Acadia Mines from the Jessie Hoyt correspondence. The stamps are cancelled by
an indistinct strike of the 2-ring #54 numeral, the 3c has defective perfs at right and the 2c Large Queen has a crease from having been affixed over the edge of the cover. Overall still fine and a key Small Queen item as only 6 covers are known
showing the 3c perf 12½ used in combination with other stamps. Ex-John Keenlyside collection and accompanied by 2002 RPSL certificate stating that both stamps have been lifted and reaffixed. (Scan a) |
