Shellabear, neatly arranged and annotated in twelve albums, consisting of well over 2,000 items, includes singles, multiples and documents of various kinds, the collection is arranged by railroad, with a background write up and map of each, a large portion of the stamps are perforated, but also includes imperforate and part perforate varieties, plus a few later issues, several better stamps present such as fourteen examples of the $200.00 including one imperforate and a vertical strip of four of the perforated, the total catalog value just for these is $14,600.00, there are many impressive documents, including some using postage stamps, such as a three page document with both a 2c and 3c 1869 Pictorial tied by New York Central R.R. handstamps, and much more; Mr. Cunliffe purchased this collection from Dr. Shellabear, who wrote the book on Railroad Company cancellations, in the 1960's - therefore nothing in the collection has been on the market in decades - with this collection being almost intact as Mr. Cunliffe purchased it, as nothing was taken out by us; an incredible opportunity for the railroad company specialist that will not be duplicated.
