not allow for perforations which were added later, this stamp is the #36, 12c Black, plate I, a magnificent used example of a stamp that is almost impossible to find in true gem quality, as the narrow spacing between the stamps on the plate did not allow for perforations which were added later, this stamp is the "one-in-a-million" exception to the rule when it comes to centering, as it possesses perfect centering and its perforations clear the design on all four sides, deep color and an incredibly detailed impression, blue c.d.s. cancel and a tiny bit of a red postmark at bottom left, superb; we doubt a finer example exists; 1989, 2003 and 2007 PF certificates, as well as a 2009 PSE certificate (Superb 98; SMQ $10,800.00); this is the highest grade the PSE has given to a #36, being one of only three to achieve Superb 98 status.
