How to Collect Stamps and Covers, Bidding in Auctions, Investing in Stamps and Specialized Articles

Collecting postage stamps of the world and postal history (stamps on their original envelopes) is a very rewarding hobby in and of itself. There are dozens of approaches that will inspire you and give you the thrill of the hunt. Building a level of knowledge in a specific collecting area can give you the advantage of knowing what is rare but underpriced, and will give you a further sense of satisfaction. However, it is folly to buy stamps solely for the purpose of investment. On the other hand, if you like collecting stamps, postal history, or want to collect from a country you love, you might as well build a collection that has value. Then when the time comes to sell, you can at least get your money back.
