1348 F 369-370 var. image1963, 20w & 40w Definitives, Postal Forgeries (Scott 369-370 var.), produced in 1967 and said by Scott to be forgeries of #369a & 370a, though they are not on granite paper (see footnote below Scott 374A), o.g., never hinged, Extremely Fine. Included is a never hinged set of the original stamps, Scott 369-370 ($114), along with an explanation of the differences between the originals and the forgeries.

The counterfeiting operation involved corrupt post office officials and postal clerks. The fake stamps were sold over the counter with clerks receiving a sales commission. These forgeries reportedly made up about 10% of total stamp sales at several post offices over a period of several months.
