Mexico. 1868 "Hidalgos" Issue. Chihuahua. 1868, "Thick Figures", 6c. Black on Brown strip of four on a pristine cover from Coronado to Hidalgo, dated 20th May 1868, with a manuscript cancel. The date is well past
the launching of the 1872 issue (1st April 1872), when the 1868 issue had been demonetized, making this a rare provisional usage. Scott 58.

Mexico. 1872 "Hidalgos" Issue. Various Districts. The 1872 Hidalgo issue: a large balance of a beautiful and expertly organized collection, put together by a very discerning collector. It comprises over 320 stamps
(mostly used) in singles, blocks, and strips, plus 18 covers. A small section of fakes and reprints is also included (not counted). The collection is organized into twelve auction group lots by district (Chalco, Chiapas, Córdoba, Lagos, Mérida,
Monterrey, Morelia, Oaxaca, Pachuca, Saltillo, Tampico and San Luis Potosí), with additional items and watermarked stamps offered in individual lots, for a total of 29 districts represented (Acapulco, Cd. Bravos, Colima, Chihuahua, Guadalajara,
Ixtlahuaca, Jalapa, Maravatío, Matamoros, Puebla, Orizaba, Querétaro, Tixtla, Toluca, Ures, Veracruz and Zacatecas). It features an amazing 49 different watermarked stamps (34 "Papel Sellado" and 15 "La+F") and four "Vertically Laid Paper" examples,
many accompanied by individual MEPSI certificates. This is an opportunity to collect those varieties by district. This is NOT an accumulation but a true collection, with little duplication. Many small towns are represented. 31 MEPSI certificates
(almost all dated 2025). NF and Scott (for watermarked) $37,826. Scott 81-104. (Image1)
