3069 * imageWoodblock Issues 1854/55: "Registered" 1 s. rose-pink & blue, an unused example, rare Die II without the tiny VR letters in the upper scrolls, with large margins all round, thereafter rouletted about 7-7½ on all four sides, of excellent colour and full original slightly browned gum with just one hinge remnant. An historic stamp, and accompanied by Krzysztof Ceremuga's certificate (2026) stating that the rouletting has been forged (definitely not from the Calvert or Robinson, Melbourne machines). However there is a reason we offer this philatelically historic stamp: 1): The stamp could have the questionable roulettes removed to make a superb unused example with original gum (cat. £ 5'000) and still be one of the finest known unused examples of SG 34 and 2):The stamp's provenance. First offered in the Baron Philippe Ferrari de la Renotière collection, sale 8, Drouot, Paris, 7-9 Nov 1923, as part of lot 607; then by Charles Lathrop Pack, Harmer Rooke, New York, 6-8 and 13-15 Dec 1944, lot 2189; then by Louise Boyd Dale & Alfred F. Lichtenstein, Harmers of New York, sale held in London, 14 May 1990, lot 253. 3): Geoff Kellow RDP states in "The Stamps of Victoria" on page 98 states "two (rouletted) unused examples, once in the Ferrary collection, are now in the Royal and Dale-Lichtenstein collections" (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3) (Image 4)

A very rare stamp. Cert. Ceremuga (2026) Gi = £ 7'000. Note: Geoff Kellow RDP states in "Stamps of Victoria" on page 89 that "unused examples of the imperforate stamp are rare" (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
