Official Stamps, Watermark Multiple Crown C of A, 1932/33: ½ d. orange, overprinted "O S" in black, variety overprint inverted, stamps joined together by tiny official repair tabs at top and base, to reconstruct a marginal
vertical "pair" with normal stamp, cancelled-to-order with light partial Brisbane c.d.s., the original paper tabs intact, otherwise retaining full original gum, a dramatic and most unusual variety, a rarity with tremendous visual appeal. Cert. Drury
(2015). Gi = £25,000 / ACSC 69(OS)Ac = $25,000. Note: The Australian Commonwealth Specialists' Catalogue records that all inverted overprints "are the result of the insertion of a stamp upside-down when mending sheets prior to overprinting."
Fourteen cancelled-to-order examples are known, including a strip of six, a strip of four used on cover, and four single stamps, ultimately yielding far fewer than 14 opportunities for a collector to acquire an example. Provenance: Collection Arthur
