1843/90, extensive used collection. Beginning with "Bulls Eyes" 30, 60 (2) and 90 Reis, the latter clearly cancelled and with good to large margins on all sides, followed by "Inclinados" and "Verticais" including some of the better as well as attractive cancellations, multiples and a few forgeries while for the 1866 "Pedro II." and subsequent issues the focus lies strongly on the cancellations with in-depth documentation of the numerous types of cork- and later metal-cancellations used for each of these issues. Interesting and mostly in fine condition.

1843/90, umfangreiche gebrauchte Sammlung. Beginnend mit "Bulls Eyes" 30, 60 (2) und 90 Reis, letztere sauber gestempelt und allseits gut bis breitrandig, gefolgt von "Inclinados" und "Verticais", dabei einige der besseren sowie attraktiven Entwertungen, Mehrfachentwertungen und einige Fälschungen, während bei den Ausgaben "Pedro II." von 1866 und folgenden der Schwerpunkt stark auf den Entwertungen liegt, mit ausführlicher Dokumentation der zahlreichen Typen von Kork- und späteren Metallstempeln, die für jede dieser Ausgaben gebraucht wurden. Interessant und meist in tadelloser Erhaltung.

Top left stamp faint tear and some very faint creasing, otherwise very fine. Very rare and attractive; just 2 further blocks of 4 have been recorded of this stamp (both also with faults). (Scott 1)

5 c. rot-braun auf tief gebläutem Papier, 4er-Block, schöne tiefe Farbe, die untere linke Marke links angeschnitten, sonst klar bis meist breitrandig, gebraucht mit 6-Bar-Ziel. Obere linke Marke schwacher Riss und einige sehr schwache Bugs, sonst sehr tadellos. Sehr selten und schön; von dieser Marke sind nur 2 weitere 4er-Blöcke bekannt (beide ebenfalls mit Fehlern). The first issue of Chile was issued on July 1 1853, a Friday. This is the earliest recorded use of a Colon stamp on letter and virtually the 'First day cover' of Chilean philately. Die erste Ausgabe von Chile wurde am 1. Juli 1853, einem Freitag, herausgegeben. 5 c. red-brown on blued paper, vertical pair, together with 10 c. deep bright blue on yellowish paper, all with ample to mostly large margins, the pair with part of adjoining stamp at base, tied by bright red target cancels, crosswise applied on the pair, with adjacent red straight-line "COPIAPO" to lettersheet to Cordoba, Argentina, . The paper of the entire partly slightly weak in the folds, otherwise very fine and fresh. A beautiful and very rare letter. 5 c. rot-braun auf gebläutem Papier, senkrechtes Paar, zusammen mit 10 c. tief hellblau auf gelblichem Papier, alle mit reichlichem bis meist breitem Rand, das Paar mit einem Teil der angrenzenden Marke am Fuß, gebunden mit senkrechten roten Zielstempeln, quer auf dem Paar angebracht, mit angrenzender roter gerader Linie "COPIAPO" auf Briefbogen nach Cordoba, Argentinien, . Das Papier des Ganzstücks teilweise leicht schwach in den Falten, sonst sehr tadellos und frisch. Ein schöner und sehr seltener Brief. Einer von nur zwei erfassten Briefen mit der kompletten ersten Ausgabe und einer von sehr wenigen erfassten Briefen nach Argentinien mit dem ersten Londoner Druck. Befund Holcombe (1985). (Scott1+2)
