278   3c 1851-1857 Off-Cover Accumulation. A substantial collection of more than 550 stamps and a few covers, with approximately 250+ 3c imperforate, virtually all Nos. 11 or 11A including pairs and a strip of 4, also 300+ 3c perforated stamps, virtually all are No. 26, collection shows a wonderful range of cancels, with a variety of colors (including green), pinwheels, targets, letters, stars, herringbone patterns, dots and dashes, route markings, etc, also includes a small study group of the "Recut Button" variety found on position 10R2L (one with P.F. certificate), as well as a small group of P.F certified fancy cancels from Muncie, Indiana, Canton, Mississippi and Collinsville, Connecticut, as with other parts of Mr. Hulme's collection many stamps are plated and accompanied by his notes, a variety of shades are present and we note several with sheet margins, imprint markings and double transfers, overall condition much better than might be expected for a group this large, with many Very Fine and Extremely Fine stamps, Scott Retail value in excess of $6,500.00

A collossal holding of more than 3,000 3c covers arranged in four long rows in a plastic storage bin, many with original content, most are Nos. 11 and 11A, with a few No. 10 and many No. 26, group not surprisingly shows a large range of shades, cancels and destinations, condition very mixed, but there are Very Fine examples as well, a tremendous opportunity for a lifetime of study for the 3c specialist or years of eBay listings for the cover dealer, our estimate of Scott Retail is $50,000.00

An outstanding holding of 240+ 3c covers, mostly imperforate with a few perforated as well, more than 90 are Orange Brown Nos. 10 or 10A, including 15 from Plate 1E, 15 from Plate 1i (with two 6c rate covers from California to the East), 15 from Plate 2E, 24 from Plate 5E, 10 from Plate 0, and several more unplated, balance are Nos. 11, 11A, 25 and 26 including better shades (Brownish Carmine and early Claret) and a range of plates, a great many of the stamps are plated, wonderful treasure trove for the specialist, Scott Retail approximately $25,000.00

285 c 3c 1851-57 Issue Covers. 300+ covers including 90+ imperforate -- mostly Nos. 11 and 11A, but we noted several rich Brownish Carmine that are very close to the Orange Brown shade of No. 10, better shades also include early Claret, the perforated covers include approximately 22 of No. 25, a handful of No. 26A, with the balance of more than 200 being No. 26, most are arranged in yeardate order beginning in early 1852 and continuing to 1861, collection contains primarily single rate domestic usages, but we noted a 10c rate to Canada with a pair of 3c and a 1c No. 9 on 3c entire, some are plated and overall condition ranges from Fine to Very Fine, an excellent lot for the 3c specialist, particularly for one who wishes to study a range of plates from 1852-1861
