ONE-CENT ENCASED POSTAGE. The Aerated Bread Co. was located on the corner of Lafayette Place and 4th Street in New York City. The firm was based on the novel "aerated" bread process, but it folded after two years. Aerated Bread Co. produced only
two denominations of encased postage -- 1c and 5c -- but the 5c is believed to be unique, therefore, the only practical way to represent this firm is with one of the 11-15 examples of the 1c value. (Image) |
