Apr. 20" (1850) circular datestamp and "PAID/5" handstamp on folded printed circular to Marseilles, France, red London transit datestamp (May 14), Calais transit datestamp (May 15), bold oily strike of red "COLONIES/&c ART.13" Anglo-French accountancy handstamp, "15" decimes due handstamp, Marseilles receiving backstamp, small tear at top of fold at center

VERY FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE AND SCARCE USE OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE ON COVER TO FRANCE.

This was carried on the Cunarder America, which departed Boston on May 1, 1850, and arrived at Liverpool on May 13.
