794 S ImageINDIA, 1948, 1-1/2a-10r Gandhi, "Specimen" Overprint, Gold Courvoisier Presentation Pages (SG 305s-308s; Scott 203S-206S). Complete set neatly mounted and affixed to two gold leaf pages, first with 1-1/2a-12a values and second with 10r, fresh colors

VERY FINE. A RARE "SPECIMEN" OVERPRINT SET OF THE 1948 GANDHI ISSUE ON GOLD FOIL PAGES. LESS THAN 25 ARE BELIEVED TO EXIST AND KEY ITEM FOR THE GANDHI COLLECTOR.

It is reported that 100 presentation booklets were created by Courvoisier and presented to dignitaries and high-level officials of various countries. It is thought that less than a quarter of the original 100 produced still exist today.
