Three full and well-balanced margins, the fourth margin is a phenomenal 15mm sheet margin at top, spectacularly rich color in a dark shade, intense detailed impression, tied by a choice strike of a seven-ring cancel on cover to Norfolk, England, "Peterboro C.W. Ja 25 1855" datestamp, red Liverpool tombstone transit handstamp, receiving backstamp of Feb.13, very minor cover restoration at top edge

EXTREMELY FINE. A MAGNIFICENT COVER BEARING AN INCOMPARABLE 1855 10-PENCE BLUE WITH ENORMOUS SHEET MARGIN USED DURING THE FIRST MONTH OF ISSUE.

We know of no other 1855 10p Blue with a sheet margin approaching this size, either on or off cover. In terms of eye-appeal and overall desirability, this can be considered the finest example known on cover.

571   ImageCANADA, 1857, -1/2p Rose (8; SG 17). Huge margins all around including a substantial sheet margin at left, rich color, well-incised impression, sharp four-ring "41" cancel of Sandwich, U.C.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SPECTACULAR USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 HALF-PENNY ROSE POSSESSING MANY IMPRESSIVE ATTRIBUTES.

Of special note is the "41" four-ring cancel. Unitrade assigns it a "Very Rare" rarity factor of 8 (out of 10) and notes it is "generally faintly struck". This example is unusually well-struck. The listed catalogue values do not take the cancel into account (and will likely prove irrelevant to the final hammer price).
