Cover flown on complete trip from New York to Wenatchee, Washington, handstamped cachet (No. 58 of 75 carried), signed by Herndon, franking includes U.S. 2c 1922 (Brooklyn Jul. 28), Japan 3s (Tokyo Oct. 2) and U.S. 2c Yorktown (Wenatchee Oct. 5), Croydon Aerodrome Jul. 30 datestamp and Russian backstamps applied in transit, Very Fine, scarce, after their detainment in Japan for flying over military fortifications, Herndon and Pangborn made the first non-stop flight from Japan to the U.S. (Image)
