Two-line datestamp containing the "A", struck at Fort Niagara post office on folded letter datelined "York U.C. 15 Febry. 1808", manuscript, "50" (cents) for over 500-miles rate, Very Fine, a wonderful cross-border cover, York was the name for Toronto until 1834, this cover was likely carried by favor to Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Agency of the American Post Office there (no evidence of Canadian postage paid or due), mail was transferred every other Thursday from the Agency to U.S. Fort Niagara (Feb. 25, 1808 was a Thursday), ex Dr. Robertson (Image)
