366 bl Image1c Blue, E. Grill (86). Block of four, remarkably well-centered, beautiful bright shade and fine impression, strong E Grill impressions, lightly cancelled by open grids, two pulled perfs at lower right, otherwise Very Fine, one of the choicest known used blocks of the 1c E Grill -- the second scarcest stamp of the E Grill set and extremely rare in block form, the majority having been used for 1c and 2c rates, we have offered only one other used block (the largest recorded used multiple, a block of 18) since keeping computerized records, ex Twigg-Smith (Image)

VERY FINE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1868 3-CENT E GRILL.

Very few well-centered blocks of the 3c E Grill have survived the mass extinction of multiples, as dealers broke them up in the 1980s and 90s to feed the market for choice singles. This is one of the last left intact.

Ex Caspary, Ishikawa and Hall. With 1993 P.F. certificate (Image)
