EXTREMELY FINE COMPLETE SHEET OF 20 OF THE ONE-PENNY MAUVE ON LAID PAPER. ONLY THREE COMPLETE SHEETS OF SG 12 ARE BELIEVED TO EXIST PER GIBBS, THE ONLY PLATE 8 KNOWN.

Only 22 sheets were printed with 129 remainders ultimately destroyed. Of those, naturally, most sheets were either cut up to be used or feed collector demand for singles and positional blocks. Signed Gibbs. SG value as singles (Image)

2359 ogbl ImageLONG ISLAND, 1916, 1p Mauve on Thin Horizontally Laid Paper, "ONR" for "ONE" Error (SG 12f). Reconstructed block of eight consisting of two blocks of four once forming the bottom two rows of Plate 4, positions 13-16/17-20, without gum as issued, positions 18 and 20 both showing the error, others normal, few light creases and bends of little importance and large tear affecting position 13 (normal stamp)

VERY FINE APPEARING BLOCKS OF FOUR SHOWING TWO EXAMPLES OF THE RARE "ONR" FOR "ONE" ERROR. ONLY SEVEN EXAMPLES HAVE BEEN RECORDED.

It is believed that a total of 12 were printed. There are five positions on four plates were this error occurred - Plate 2, position 17, Plate 4, position 18 and 20, Plate 5, position 13 and Plate 6, position 18. Bottom left block signed Gibbs. SG value as singles (Image)
