2251° c ImageFALKLAND ISLANDS, 1869, "Falkland Paid Islands" Black Frank (SG FR1). Clear strike on petite 1873 lady's cover with blue edge pattern on backflap to Swansea, Wales, Nov. 15, 1873 circular datestamp at bottom left, manuscript "6" rating to indicate postage paid alongside, small part of backflap missing, small tear at top of the cover well away from any markings

VERY FINE. A DESIRABLE EXAMPLE OF THE RARE FALKLAND ISLANDS 1869 BLACK FRANK. ONLY 46 ARE RECORDED.

The cover was carried by the Black Hawk to Montevideo, and then by the John Elder to Liverpool.
