Block of 62 crossing all four transfers of the 50-subject transfer stone, 49 positions from Stone 2 are present (missing only Position 47), the following positions are included in the block: upper left Positions 38-40/48-50; lower left Positions 6-10/36-40; upper right Positions 31-36/41-46; lower right Positions 1-6/31-36, also showing all stone varieties including major and minor clipped transfers at upper right, brownish original gum which soaks through to front in a few places, usual gum creases but not folded like many large multiples

VERY FINE AND RARE LARGE MULTIPLE OF THE 5-CENT BLUE LITHOGRAPH FROM STONE 2, CROSSING ALL FOUR TRANSFERS ON THE 200-SUBJECT PRINTING STONE.

This is a very rare block showing portions of all four 50-subject Stone 2 transfers on the 200-subject printing stone. The layout includes every position from Stone 2 except Position 47, as well as the gutter positions. The iconic complete sheet of 200 (less three stamps) is the most recognizable artifact from Stone 2, but this block is extraordinary in its own right. Other than the complete sheet this is the only multiple we have encountered which includes portions of all four transfers.

Jun. 14" (1862) circular datestamp on cover with "Intemperance is the Curse of the World" illustrated propaganda design, addressed to Rev. Robert Bernels in Richmond, the Reverend turned and re-mailed the cover back to his wife in Columbia S.C. with 5c Milky Blue, Stone 2 (4b), large margins to barely touched top left corner, both stamps tied by "Richmond Va. Jun. 20" circular datestamp -- the Richmond office struck the datestamp once on the Milky Blue stamp and again on the original stamp

VERY FINE. A SPECTACULAR AND UNIQUE USE OF TWO 5-CENT BLUE LITHOGRAPHS, IN DIFFERENT SHADES, ON AN ILLUSTRATED TEMPERANCE PROPAGANDA COVER.

This is a rare example of a Confederate stamp used on this Temperance propaganda design. To find it with two different shades, one used to re-mail the cover back to its origin (not forwarded), adds to its rarity and desirability.
