Oct. 22, 1861" circular datestamps on buff cover to Macon Ga. with "Office of Ordnance and H'd'y, Virginia Navy" with "Virginia" crossed out and "C.S." written in (ND-20), "Sic Semper Tyrannis" illustrated design at upper left ("thus always to tyrants", which John Wilkes Booth yelled out to the audience during the shooting of Lincoln), stamp at top a replacement, both stamps wrapped around edge of cover, missing most of top flap, otherwise Fine and rare, the office of Ordnance was taken over by the Confederate Navy, this state imprint was converted to a Confederate Navy imprint by hand, accompanied by Confederate Philatelist article of May-June 1973 discussing this cover (Image)
