2141   ImageA Large and Impressive Collection of Valentines. Approximately 840 Valentines and related items -- some with original addressed envelopes, but the postally-used items have been removed, leaving the value for the collector of paper ephemera -- all shapes and sizes, some dating to the early 1800's and possibly late 18th Century, including handwritten poems, hand-illustrated designs, a group of comic Valentines, puzzles and pull-ups, many large and intricate designs manufactured by the foremost British and American stationers (Mansell et al), including some truly exquisite compositions (and, at the time, quite expensive), also includes related items such as a wholesale 1918 price list from a Valentine manufacturer, a few fantasy bank notes from "Bank of True Love", sheets of letter seals, there are numerous items with retail or auction prices of $500 each, some faults to be expected
