841 og Image1904, 2c Rose, "L" of "Canal" Sideways (10b). Position 68, h.r., intense color in an especially deep shade, well-centered

VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1904 2-CENT "CANAL ZONE" OVERPRINT WITH THE "L" OF "CANAL" SIDEWAYS. ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL OF ALL CANAL ZONE ERRORS.

According to Canal Zone Stamps, this is the only example of a Canal Zone overprint where a letter is turned sideways. The authorities noticed the error, and went to the trouble of removing and destroying the one stamp from each pane. 920 were destroyed -- 17 unused and four used are recorded. This is the second we have offered since keeping computerized records. (Image)

845 og Image1909, 2c Vermilion & Black, Ovpt. Reading Up, Booklet Pane of Six, Handmade, Perf Margins (32c). Unexploded booklet of four panes, with booklet cover of the 1c value (CZSG 32c.6), the panes have some gum disturbance, but are not stuck to the interleaving (as is the case on all other examples we have seen)

VERY FINE. A RARE BOOKLET CONTAINING 2-CENT STAMPS BUT WITH A COVER DENOTING ONE-CENT STAMPS. ONLY SIX SUCH BOOKLETS WITH THE WRONG COVER ARE RECORDED.

Apparently a small number of the 1c booklet covers were printed in the salmon color intended for the 2c (instead of the usual lemon color). The postal employees preparing booklet identified the covers only by the color, and a few of these 1c error covers were filled with 2c stamps. (Image)

847 ogbl Image1912, 2c Vermilion & Black, Horizontal Pair, Left Stamp Without Ovpt. (39b). Block of 20 comprising the bottom two rows of the sheet with selvage on all three sides, left two stamps missing the overprint, right selvage with part of "Canal" overprint, tropicalized original gum, rich color, fgew natural gum creases do not affect either error

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL PLATE POSITION MULTIPLE CONTAINING TWO OF THE TEN POSSIBLE ERROR STAMPS.

Only one sheet exists with the printing shifted to the right, creating ten stamps with the overprint omitted in the lefthand column of the sheet. The multiple offered here is especially desirable because it shows part of the shifted overprint in the selvage at right.

Ex Justi and Helme. Scott Retail as two singles without overprint (Image)

FINE-VERY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING QUALITY SHEET-MARGIN PAIR OF THE 1918 2-CENT MISSING OVERPRINT ERROR.

This error was caused when one sheet was misfed into the printing press, and the right vertical row of ten did not receive the overprint. Two additional copies are known caused by a foldover.
