EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER STRIP OF EIGHT OF THE 15-CENT TYPE II 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE.

The bicolor 1869 Pictorials were printed in sheets of 100, with two plate numbers and imprints at top in the color of the frame and two at bottom in the color of the vignette. Plate proofs of Type I are not known. Virtually all have been split into single imprint and plate number multiples. This would be a wonderful companion piece to a similar multiple from the bottom of the sheet offered in our Heimburger sale.
