Large to full margins, intense shade, tied by "Louisville Ky. 10 Sep. 18" (1850) integral-rate circular datestamp on folded letter to Philadelphia, blue "R" (Recorded) handstamp struck in Philadelphia, manuscript "28" registry number, Very Fine, the "R" marking was applied to precursor registered mail at Philadelphia, this smaller "R" replaced the large "R" in October, 1849, from our 1984 Rarities sale and ex Stollnitz (Image)
