994° nh Image2c Jamestown (329). Mint N.H., radiant color as fresh as the day it was printed on post-office fresh paper, mathematically perfect centering with unusually wide margins for this difficult issue

EXTREMELY FINE GEM AND THE ESSENCE OF PERFECTION -- THIS REMARKABLE STAMP IS GRADED GEM 100 BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED AND THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS PERFECT GRADE.

The Jamestown Issue is notorious for its tight spacing and narrow margins, which causes most copies to be off-center to some degree. High grades are extremely difficult to obtain on this issue in any denomination. For example, only one 1c has graded 98J and none have graded 100. This is the only example of the 2c graded 100. For the 5c, the 98J offered in the following lot is the highest grade with no equals.

With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100; SMQ $4,600.00 is irrelevant, it last sold for $18,500 hammer in 2008). Accompanied by note from former master grader William Litle which states "The first ever Jamestown to get 100 and N.H. at that." This is still the only Jamestown to get a 100 grade in any condition (used, OG or NH). Scott Retail $75.00 (Image)

995° nh Image5c Jamestown (330). Mint N.H., perfectly centered with Jumbo margins, deep rich color on post-office fresh paper

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT JAMESTOWN ISSUE WHICH IS GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY P.S.E. -- THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADED 5-CENT JAMESTOWN AND HAS NO EQUALS IN THE POPULATION REPORT.

The Jamestown Issue is notorious for its tight spacing and narrow margins, which causes most copies to be off-center to some degree. High grades are extremely difficult to obtain on this issue in any denomination. For example, only one 1c has graded 98J and none have graded 100. The 2c offered in the previous lot is the only example graded 100. The 5c offered here stands alone at 98J, with none graded higher.

With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo; SMQ $13,500.00 is far too low -- this unique "highest and only" of this top denomination of the series realized $35,000 hammer in 2008). This is the highest grade awarded and it is shared by no others. Scott Retail $290.00 (Image)
