2141 c ImageNEW ZEALAND, 1858, 1sh Green, Half Used as 6p on Cover (6a; SG 6a). Three large margins, tied by excellent strike of barred "18" cancel on 1858 cover from Otago to London, England, bisect was cut from cover and subsequently reattached in place, Otago Aug. 16 departure backstamp, London arrival, cover with crease at far left and tiny portion missing at bottom left corner

FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1858 ONE-SHILLING BISECT USED AS SIX-PENCE ON COVER FROM THE MOTTRAM CORRESPONDENCE. ONE OF ONLY 26 RECORDED AND A MAJOR NEW ZEALAND RARITY.

This example is recorded as R6 of the Richardson bisect covers by Gerald Ellot. Ex Davy and Hackmey. With 1918 R.P.S. certificate. Scott Retail $29,000.00. SG £26,000 (Image)
