1020° nhbl Image$2.00 Harding (833 var). Mint N.H. Black "Top", markers and vignette plate no. 23479 block of 20, without Yellow Green plate number or markers, selvage at sides, offset in selvage from another sheet with Black markers but no trace of Yellow Green, two vertical rows with gum skips

VERY FINE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED $2.00 HARDING PLATE BLOCK WITH YELLOW GREEN PLATE NUMBER AND MARKINGS OMITTED. A GREAT RARITY OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ISSUE.

Roland Rustad's book The Prexies makes no mention of this variety, nor does the Durland catalog. The sheets with arrows at top were printed first, followed later by the non-arrow sheets, so this does not come from an early printing. Durland lists vignette plate number 23479 as having been used with each of the five recorded frame plate numbers (22122, 22123, 23477, 23478 and 24480). A normal sheet with Yellow Green markings in selvage may be seen in lot 1021.

1025   5c 1966 SIPEX Souvenir Sheet (1311). Massive quantity of cancelled sheets in packets in two large cartons, we are told there are 42,000 in total and it looks like tens of thousands, but we have not verified the count, each with a light circular datestamp cancel, we truly have no idea what this unusual lot might be worth (the Scott Retail of $10,500.00 provides a benchmark), the SIPEX international philatelic exhibition in Washington D.C. celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, so these could be used as a promotional giveaway item to every reader of Linn's Stamp News
