295 ng Image5c Red Orange (1c). Unused (no gum), large to huge margins all around, intense color in brilliant Red Orange shade, sharp impression, small tear at top and couple small thins which do not in any way detract from the appearance of this beautiful stamp

VERY FINE AND CHOICE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE 1847 SHADE, ESPECIALLY IN UNUSED CONDITION. THIS STAMP IS THE STRONGEST RED ORANGE WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED.

This stamp was found in an old-time album that surfaced in Europe last year. It has been protected from light exposure for most of its life, which has preserved the Red Orange color to a degree rarely encountered among the few known examples.

With 2016 P.F. certificate. Scott value for unused without gum is $9,500.00, which is the same as the used value, despite the fact that unused examples are many times rarer (Image)
