1340   Image50c Original Process, Part Perforated (R60b). Large imperforate margins showing portion of adjoining stamp at bottom, beautifully centered between perforated side margins, deep rich color, neat 1863 manuscript cancel, completely sound

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THE 50-CENT ORIGINAL PROCESS PART PERFORATED FIRST ISSUE REVENUE IS VERY RARE IN USED CONDITION.

A Power Search review reveals how elusive this stamp is in used condition, despite its very modest Scott Retail value. We have offered only two others since keeping computerized records: one in the Curtis Collection which realized $6,000 hammer and another in our recent Inman sale, which realized $6,750 hammer.

With 2016 P.F. certificate (XF 90). Scott Retail (in italics, meaning trades infrequently) is woefully out of date. We have sold two examples for $6,000 and $6,750 in recent auctions (Image)
