EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE $1.92 1879 NEWSPAPER ISSUE IN MINT NEVER-HINGED CONDITION. A WONDERFUL CONDITION RARITY.
We have offered only one other Mint N.H. example of this issue since keeping computerized records. With 2001 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as hinged (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE. A REMARKABLY RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE $12.00 1879 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY NEWSPAPER ISSUE. THIS MAY WELL BE THE FINEST IN EXISTENCE.
Power Search located only two others in Mint N.H. condition, and the online records of The Philatelic Foundation contain only four. The stamp offered here is clearly superior to the others, by virtue of margin size and balance.
With 1985 and 2007 P.F. certificates (XF 90) (Image)
VERY FINE-EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE COMPLETE SET OF THE 1894 COLMAN SPECIAL PRINTING OF THE 1879-83 NEWSPAPER ISSUE.
In 1894 this set was ordered by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing from the American Bank Note Co. to serve as samples. The stamps were printed from the original Continental Bank Note Co. plates. Washington D.C. stamp dealer Hamilton F. Colman obtained a set of imperforate panes of 50. He kept five sets imperforate and privately perforated the other 45. Colman was later indicted for illegal possession of these stamps, but was acquitted. (Image)
