New York Jun. 24, 1875" double-oval datestamp struck at center, small black mark on back barely shows thru at right, corner perf crease at top left, tiny tear at right, Fine appearance, the only recorded example of the National Bank Note Co. cancel on the 10c Ty. C Specimen overprint (the underlying stamp is the 1875 Reprint), possibly a presentation example, the normal Specimen is listed only under PR2S (1865 Issue), but we feel this is the 1875 Reprint shade, ex Braceland and Kotanchik, P.F. certificate no. 446658 no longer accompanies, but identifies this as PR2S-C (Image)

EXTREMELY FINE SET OF THE 1875 CONTINENTAL BANK NOTE COMPANY IMPERFORATE SPECIAL PRINTING OF THE FIRST NEWSPAPER ISSUE. VERY RARE IN THIS CHOICE CONDITION.

According to the Scott Catalogue, Continental Bank Note Co. made a second special printing from new plates, which did not have the colored border. They exist both perforated and imperforate, and were not regularly issued.
