Used with horizontal strip of three 1853, 10c Bister on Yellowish (14; Yvert 13A), margins all around on both, tied by large grid of dots cancels, "Paris 8 Juin '54" double-circle datestamp on folded letter to New York, red boxed "PD" handstamp, lightly struck "Boston Br. Packet 22 Jun." circular datestamp ties strip

EXTREMELY FINE. A SUPERB COVER FROM PARIS TO NEW YORK WITH THE 1853 ONE-FRANC AND 10-CENTIMES NAPOLEON III ISSUE.

This was carried on the Cunarder Canada, departing Liverpool Jun. 10 and arriving Boston Jun. 22.

Horizontal pair, expert repair at top is all but undetectable, large to ample margins, used with 1853, 40c Orange on Yellowish (18; Yvert 16), both tied by diamond of dots cancels, blurry strike of Paris Dec. 12 (1853) double-circle datestamp on folded cover to 16 Wall Street in New York, Paris forwarder's and Calais backstamp of Dec. 12, red boxed "PD" handstamp, "New-York Am. Pkt. Dec. 26" circular datestamp and "42" cents due handstamp for U.S. double rate (16c sea plus 5c inland postage per rate), Very Fine appearance, carried on the Collins Line Pacific, departing Liverpool Dec. 14 and arriving New York Dec. 26, this demonstrates the non-parallel weight progressions for French and U.S. mails, as it is franked for triple 80c rate in France, but was rated as double-rate cover in the United States (Image)
