Two of 10c, tied by Muhlhausen Sep. 3, 1871 circular datestamps on folded letter from German-occupied Mulhouse to New Orleans, "Franco" straightline, carried on HAPAG Line steamer Thuringia from Hamburg on Sep. 6, stopping at Plymouth and then arriving at New York on Sep. 19, red New York circular datestamp ties left stamp, bottom 10c stamp defective and 20c stamp small perf faults, Fine appearing and very rare use and routing via North German Direct mail from Hamburg, fully paid direct from Alsace-Lorraine per the Jul. 1870 U.S.-German treaty (Image)
