Six folded letters or covers, including blue Baltimore circular datestamp with "Steam" and "10" in circle handstamps to New York (1846 use), red "Potomac Steamboat Jun." circular datestamp with "10" handstamp to New Orleans (1847 use), red "Steamboat" straightline and manuscript "18-1/2" rate on 1823 folded letter from Norfolk to Washington, red brown "Steamboat" straightline and "12-1/2" rate on 1825 folded letter from Baltimore to Philadelphia, another similar used in 1831, last is 1827 folded letter with red "Phil. 31 AU" circular datestamp and "Steamboat" and "Free" handstamp to postmaster at Chenango Point N.Y., few with light vertical file folds and slight overall soiling (both to be expected), Very Fine group

Dec. 24" circular datestamp and large red "Steam" handstamp with "37-1/2" manuscript rate (described by Calvet M. Hahn as earliest recorded), two similar single rate uses from 1840, another similar 1842 use to Killingby Conn. with Stonington markings in black, two with blue Middletown circular datestamps and "Steamboat" handstamps with "5" in circle (one to Middletown, other to Portland Conn.), 1845 folded letter from New York to Bridgeport Conn. with red "Steamboat" handstamp and "5" rate carried on the Housatonic Railroad's Nimrod (some wear), 1843 use from New York to Norwich Conn. with "Steam Boat", some markings applied in Hartford (1833 and 1834, early uses), Springfield Mass., Middletown Conn., New London (1842), couple of minor faults, Very Fine and attractive group mostly carried on the Connecticut River
